Chandler Goes Home

The State Senate lost a valuable employee Friday, as Agriculture Committee consultant John Chandler left Sacramento to return home to take over management of the family farm. During the Senate session on Friday, he was thanked for his years of service by Ag Committee Chair Anthony Cannella and Vice Chair Michael Rubio.

Chandler, a fifth-generation farmer from the Central Valley, had studied at CalPoly SLO and worked in the agriculture industry for several years before bringing his experience to the Senate. He was respected throughout the Capitol, serving as consultant to both Democratic and Republican Chairmen, and provided insight that few (if any) in the Capitol could match.

We wish him the very best of luck as he returns home to Fresno and the almond orchards that he loves. He will be missed.

Fun Fact

Half of California’s Assemblymembers since 1990 have never termed out? That’s right; of the 348 legislators to serve in the lower house in the past 21 years, only 151 (43%) termed out. Even if you exclude the 80 members currently serving, only 56% of Assemblymembers ever termed out.
