Paul Carpenter’s 1976 Constituent Survey

Paul B. Carpenter
Carpenter

A new addition to the archive; a copy of a constituent survey mailed by Assemblyman Paul B. Carpenter in 1976. Carpenter served one term in the Assembly (when this survey was mailed) before being elected to the Senate in 1976. He served in the State Senate until 1987, when he was elected to the State Board of Equalization.

The response, from E. E. Koster of Cypress, notes that “Big labor is getting too big, thus contributing too much to inflation,” calls for abolishing the Coastal Commission, and opposes an independent commission setting legislator salaries.
