Friday was the filing deadline in the Special Elections to fill the vacancies created by the resignations of State Senators Gloria Negrete McLeod (SD-32) and Juan Vargas (SD-40). The candidates are:

Paul Leon (Republican), Mayor of Ontario
Norma Torres (Democrat), a State Assemblymember

Hector Raul Gastelum (Republican), a Businessman/Teacher/Coach
Xanthi Gionis (No Party), a Professor/Businesswoman/Author
Ben Hueso (Democrat), a State Assemblymember
